Now that I have five minutes left before I leave for work, and from there on to Italy, I figured now would be a good time to update this. Here's a quick recap of events: I got sick in the beginning of the week and felt like crap, but seem to have made a full recovery by yesterday; I threw a baby shower for a co-worker yesterday and it went very well; I'm PMSing like crazy and had a breakdown last night because I couldn't find my voltage converter. Luckily Patrick was there for me and comforted me. That's when you know someone loves you; when you act like a lunatic and they don't tell you so and walk out the door.

Anyway, I find myself a bit nervous now about going on such a big trip by myself, but I'm still excited as well. I managed to fit everything I want to take with me in a medium-sized backpack and a purse. Now I don't have to worry about the airline losing my luggage.

I'll be back next Saturday with a lot of pictures. Arrivederci!

I got to visit Astroland Friday night one last time before it closed down. Patrick and I first watched the fireworks which I thought started at 8:30, but started closer to 10:00; thankfully it was worth the wait. Afterwards we rode The Cyclone, Breakdance and the bumper cars. I was considering buying a picture of us on The Cyclone coming down the first drop, but I was making a face that looked too much like I was constipated, so I decided against it. Patrick felt pretty sick after Breakdance, so we left shortly after that. I'm glad we got to go.

I was on-call Saturday night, but decided to take my chances and go to a birthday party for Patrick's friend in Washington Heights. I lucked out and didn't get called in. I'm on-call this Friday night as well though, so we'll see how long this lucky streak lasts.

I also plan to get the final details of my trip worked out and buy any last minute items I may need this weekend. I'm really paranoid that the airline I'm taking is going to lose my luggage when I transfer planes in Lisbon. Just in case, I think I'll try to bring all necessities with me on the plane. I also hope I don't have to endure too many flight delays. When and why did delays become the norm? Our plane to Ireland was delayed for 6 hours. It was so ridiculous.

Patrick is definitely moving into our friend Brook's apartment at the end of the month. I'm happy with that since it's pretty close to where I live now. We entertained thoughts of getting a bigger place together, but I don't think either of us is ready. We'll see next year. I've never lived with anyone I've dated, so it's not something I take very lightly. Anyway, Patty's coming home soon so I should go fluff his pillow and have his nightcap and newspaper ready.

I can't believe we're already five days into September. I leave for Italy in a little over two weeks! Patrick and I are already approaching our one week anniversary of living together, not to mention our year anniversary of being together is at the end of the month. Time...it really does fly.

On Saturday afternoon Patrick and I drove up to Warwick with some of his friends to attend another friend's party. We started drinking pretty early I suppose, but I didn't feel that drunk because I paced myself for the most part. I cannot say the same for Patrick, however. He got way too drunk toward the end of the night and it led to some embarrassing behavior on his part. I was pretty furious with him the next morning and spent most of the day reminding him. Eventually I got over it, but I don't plan on taking it as lightly if there's a next time.

Monday I was on-call from noon to midnight. I had to go in at the beginning of my shift, but was back home in time to have dinner with Patrick and thankfully wasn't called in again. I think I'm going to attempt to attend a party this Saturday night even though I have an on-call shift starting at midnight.

Our cats are getting along much better than when they were first introduced. Initially Milo wouldn't come out from under the bed and Garlic (Patrick's cat) kept hissing and swatting at my cats every time they came near him. Garlic still attacks my cats every now and then (e.g. in the middle of the night and wakes us up), but for the most part they're coexisting somewhat harmoniously.

Patrick is contemplating moving in with our friends Brook and Shane at the end of the month. It's in Park Slope and maybe just a 10-15 minute walk away from me. It would be interesting if he took it being that a certain ex lives in the same building, but a few floors below Brook. The room Patrick would be taking would be the same room (but obviously a different apartment) the ex had when we were together. Coincidentally, that ex is how I met Brook and hence Patrick. Small world! Anyway, I should know by the end of tonight if he'll take it since he's on his way there now to check it out.

I got a little raise at work. Making more money is a good thing. I'm also trying to plan a baby shower for one of the women in my office, but to my dismay have been met with a little opposition from my boss about minute details. It's not altogether surprising coming from her though. Otherwise I'm just counting the days until vacation!
