I've been feeling too lazy to write about the trip, so enjoy these pictures in the meantime! 04*16*08 I still woke up somewhat early even though I don't have to work today. My flight doesn't take off until 3:25 this afternoon, so I have plenty of time to finish packing at least. I did yoga last night and had planned to do it this morning as well, but I'm still sore from last night so I don't see that happening. Currently I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to fit my purse into my bookbag. I'm amazed that I was able to fit everything I needed for an 8-day trip to Italy into my little bookbag and purse, but now I'm having trouble fitting what I want into a carry-on suitcase and a bookbag. Meh! I can't wait to be in San Diego already. Can you believe my flight to and from the west coast doesn't include a meal!? They have food for purchase only. I know that's how they roll on JetBlue, but JetBlue also has cable TV to make up for it. I expected a tiny bit more from American Airlines and Delta. It's over a 5-hour flight smack in the middle of dinner time; c'mon! I suppose I'll shower and try to finish packing and cat-proofing my apartment. Melissa is going to check on my babies while I'm gone, but I still feel a little guilty. I think they know I'm going because they're ignoring me. I wonder if I have time to go back to bed? Anyway, I probably won't write again until the 28th. Buhbye! 04*11*08 My fucking neighbor woke me up an hour ago to the sound of him having gay sex. Well, first he woke me up to the sound of him slamming the door, then I think I may have been half awake because he was talking loud. I was definitely wide awake when the groaning commenced though. I want to kill him. Anywho, my trip is almost here! We leave Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately I'm taking American Airlines to San Diego. Fortunately we'll be taking a plane that isn't the one that they've been having problems with. Regardless, it would make me feel better if they have their shit together by next week. We'll be staying in San Diego until Friday morning, at which time we'll drive to L.A. to hang out with Rory until Saturday morning. From there we head to San Francisco until Tuesday. Then we begin our two-day journey to Portland where we'll meet up with Katrina. We'll probably head to Seattle Thursday or Friday. We head back to NYC from there on Sunday. I can't wait to get away. I'm sick of my schedule. I'm sick of being awaken by hookers and my neighbor having sex. Speaking of which, he's at it again! Granted now I'm sitting next to the wall we share and it's not nearly as loud as before. I might even have been able to sleep through it this time had I already been asleep. Um, scratch that, it just got way louder. Alright, I guess I'll see what I can do about getting back to bed. 04*03*08 I'm still alive, I just have been feeling tired lately and thus not feeling like writing. I feel like I was going non-stop from yoga on Thursday night until volunteering at my company's wine tasting event on Tuesday night. I had a good weekend though. I just feel like relishing in being sedentary again until this weekend. Friday night I took Patrick to the Chip Shop on Atlantic Avenue for his birthday dinner. I usually don't care for the place, but my dish was pretty good...and pretty fatty. We then went to his friend's birthday party at a bar next door for a bit. I spent Saturday morning running around like a maniac trying to get things in order for Patrick's birthday party. I got him a humongous cookie cake from Mrs. Field's in addition to 30 cupcakes from Little Cupcake Bakeshop in Bay Ridge. I've never heard of a cookie cake and it sounded gross to me, so the cupcakes were a back up. To my surprise, the cookie cake was a big hit and my cupcakes were kind of neglected (definitely not because they didn't taste good though). At the end of the night, Patrick and I handed out cupcakes to some bar patrons so they didn't go to waste. All in all the party was a good time. Sunday Patrick and I went to the Guggenheim to see Cai Guo-Qiang's exhibit "I Want To Believe". I enjoyed it for the first few levels, but the top half was kind of boring to me. I think right around then was also when Patrick and I realized we wished we had slept longer, so we headed back to Park Slope to do so. March 24-31 was restaurant week in Brooklyn (3 courses for $23!). Patrick and I went to participating restaurants for dinner Saturday to Monday night. For the most part we enjoyed the food except for a restaurant called Jolie where we ate Saturday. Monday night was Patrick's official birthday, so I called ahead to the restaurant and asked if they could put a candle in his dessert. And that is finally how I surprised him for his birthday. He ruined any surprise I had planned for his present, he knew I was going to get him the cookie cake even though I insisted I wasn't, so I was happy my final gesture was successful. As I already wrote, I volunteered at my company's wine tasting Tuesday night. I had to get semi-dressed up which I've never done for work. Basically I only volunteered for free liquor, and free liquor I drank! It was held in some bourgeoisie club in midtown. The attendants were just as bourgeoisie as the club. I felt a bit out of place. But each glass of wine took care of that in no time. I've been trying to figure out some routes for my upcoming trip. I think I've got the gist of it figured out. I'm in store for some long drives; two 7-hour drives at the most, with the rest around 2-5 hours. Unfortunately Patrick does not drive, so I hope I don't go crazy taking up this task. We leave in less than two weeks! I can't wait.
